Our newest Single Origin and it’s a beauty from El Mirador.
Our latest single origin is a delicious natural processed coffee from El Mirador in the Huila region.
In the cup it has taste notes of milk chocolate, stone fruit, citrus and grape.
The Origins
Nestled in the heart of Huila lies Algeciras, a municipality brimming with agricultural activity. Among its esteemed producers is Daniel Calderon Enciso, whose farm, El Mirador, perched at 1,760 meters above sea level, cultivates coffee alongside sugar cane, cacao, and leafy greens.
The six-hectare farm predominantly features Colombia and Caturra coffee varieties, meticulously cared for to ensure top quality. Once ripe cherries are carefully hand-selected, they undergo a thorough process, including a 130-hour fermentation period, before being dried in a marquesina within a parabolic greenhouse. Despite challenges posed by heavy rainfall, Daniel persists in delivering outstanding coffee, albeit with longer drying times. His natural processed coffee boasts tasting notes of milk chocolate, stone fruit, citrus, and grape, reflecting the terroir of its high-altitude growth. Through dedication and resilience, Daniel’s coffee shines as a testament to Huila’s prowess in the specialty coffee world.
