Tell us a little bit about The Shed Life?
I own The Shed Life. It started out as a business model I had written up, about 13 or more years ago. When 2020 happened, like a lot of people, I had some time up my sleeve. I located the building and opened November 2020. Probably not a recommended time to start a business from scratch, but here we are.
We have a fantastic team who make the shop run well and could not do what we do without them.
Tell us, how do you drink your coffee?
A milk coffee, Latte or Cappuccino. I will experiment though!
What are your tips to make better coffee?
Be consistent. From the way you greet people, to the grinder set up, weighing shots, tamping, pour times, stretching milks, and even general talking to customers. A consistent coffee experience is what people remember and enjoy.
What new trends or changes have you seen coming from your customers or the industry?
It depends on where they’re from! Victorians call in, they have some pretty wild orders. For example; a “Magic”. What’s that all about?
Can you tell us about your relationship with Grinder’s Coffee?
Grinders have been a fantastic partner. Since day one, they have helped me with any ideas I come up with. Nothing is ever a problem.
We have other roasters come in every second week trying to get our business, but we are happy with our partnership with Grinders and don’t entertain the thought.
What makes The Shed a great place to work?
It may be a cliche, but it is the people you work with, as with any job.
